Bassoon Loan Program

About

In 2017 the Meg Quigley Bassoon Lending Program was established at Meg Quigley. Janet Grice, bassoonist and Meg Quigley Shero donated her Fox Model 201 to be used as an instrument to loan to a Latina bassoon student. This established the Grice Memorial Bassoon.

At MQ, we know that access to a quality instrument can make a decisive difference in a student’s artistic development. However, the high cost of a good bassoon can become a significant barrier, even for highly talented and committed young musicians. In response to this reality, MQ is committed to supporting the next generation of bassoonists through this initiative.

MQ announces this call for applications for the loan of a bassoon, aimed at a Latina student currently pursuing music studies in the United States.

The purpose of this initiative is to support artistic and academic development by providing access to an instrument that meaningfully contributes to musical growth and professional training.

This application will ask for:

  • A recent performance video recording.

  • One letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor who is not your major professor for Fall, 2026.

Application Deadline: July 1, 2026

Results Announced by August 1, 2026
